McLure & Vinsula, Kamloops, B.C. Real Estate

The areas Vinsula and McLure are located 25 minutes or approximately 48 kilometers north of the city of Kamloops. Vinsula is located minutes after the Sun Peaks Resort exit in Heffley Creek (33 Kilometers from Kamloops). The area of McLure follows Vinsula and is about 48 kilometers north of Kamloops or 23 kilometers south of Barriere.

These areas mainly consist of small acreages, farms, ranches and some smaller residential parcels. McLure and Vinsula are bordered by the North arm of the Thompson River. McLure is the home of Kamloops’ only river ferry. This small ferry transports vehicles between McLure and the northern area of Westsyde. Access to the ferry is off of McLure Ferry Road that intersects with the Yellowhead Highway #5. The ferry has a load capacity of two vehicles or 12 passengers.

Properties & Real Estate

Properties in the areas of McLure and Vinsula mainly consist of small to large acreages. These areas are split by the Yellowhead Highway #5 and are easily accessible from the Highway. Most properties sit near to the North Thompson River in the valley between the river to the west and hills to the east. There are some properties located along dirt roads in McLure and Vinsula such as Vinsula Knouff Lake Road. There are some smaller properties that are one acre in size or smaller and they are on mainly Pinegrove Road in McLure. Smaller acreages are found on Walterdale Road, Glengrove Road, McLure Ferry Road and Kealty Road to name a few. The remainder of the properties in the area are quarter sections or larger that house livestock or grow hay.

There are not any multi-family properties, mobile home parks or smaller residential lots in these areas.

Shopping

Main shopping is in the city of Kamloops and is within a 25 to 30 minute drive. There is a restaurant in McLure, a small gas station and convenience store in Heffley (5 to 10 minutes from McLure/Vinsula), a small seasonal corner store at the Pinegrove Camp Ground (open Spring/Summer) and a gas station/convenience store in Rayleigh (10 to 15 minutes). There is also a fruit stand that is located on the corner of McLure Ferry Road and the Yellowhead Highway #5.

Schools

Students who live in the McLure and Vinsula area attend the Heffley Creek Elementary school or one of many high schools in Kamloops. There is school bus service from McLure and Vinsula and not all children attend school in Heffley as some parents choose to send them to other schools in the area such as Rayleigh Elementary. Recreation

There are many outdoors activities to enjoy in this region. Hiking, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, motor sports such as dirt biking, ATVing or snowmobiling, trail riding, fishing and more. This area is very close to many fishing lakes such as Knouff Lake, Heffley Lake and Sullivan Lake. Big Heffley Lake is also within 20 minutes where watersports are enjoyed in the warmer months and ice fishing, snowmobiling and cross country skiing in the winter months.

McLure and Vinsula are within 30 minutes of Sun Peaks resort which is an all seasons resort with downhill skiing/snowboarding in the winter and mountain biking in the summer. Many lakes are also very close for swimming, fishing and boating.

Kamloops Acreage For SalePritchard Farmland For Sale BC KamloopsPritchard is located 30 minutes or 39 kilometers south east of the City of Kamloops. The majority of the properties in Pritchard are small to large acreages. There is one area where smaller city lots exist (approximately 0.25 acre lots) and are largely dominated by modular or manufactured homes. Pritchard is a rural area with few amenities close. There are a lot of recreational, outdoor activities that are easily accessible in Pritchard area.

Pritchard BC Kamloops BridgeThe Pritchard Bridge spans the South Thompson River connecting the residents of the North side of the river with the South shore and highway. The Pritchard bridge is a wooden stringer system and has an opening at it’s highest point to allow boats to pass under. The bridge was constructed in the early 1900’s and it is a single lane bridge with large pull outs so oncoming traffic can pass. The bridge will support heavier loads as it does have a concrete deck and allows for logging trucks to pass over.

Pritchard BC Real Estate For SaleThe area of Pritchard is located along Highway #1 East of the City of Kamloops. This area is split by the Highway, one area of Pritchard rests at the valley bottom along the South Thompson River and the other area of Pritchard stretches into the southern hills and mountains. The smaller residential lots are located at the valley bottom across the Pritchard bridge on Decamillis Road, Bostock Crescent, Gerella Road, Gore Road, Anker Road and Foort Road to name a few.

Predominantly, large acreages are found on the south side of the river off of Duck Range Road, Martin Prarie Road (main roads in this area of Pritchard) as well as Harrison Road, Schamps Road and Stark Road. Most of the acreages are located on the south side of Pritchard. There are a few medium and large sized acreages spread on the Northern side of Pritchard off of Pinantan Pritchard Road, Pinantan Road and Kamloops-Shuswap Road.

Shopping

The only shopping in this area is the Pritchard store located at the corner of the Trans Canada Highway #1 and Martin Prarie Road. Along with basic necessities the Prtichard store offers spirits and liquor as well. The closest shopping to Pritchard is Chase which is 18.5 kilometers east of Pritchard or Kamloops which is 39 kilometers west of Pritchard. There are some smaller shopping centres west of Pritchard such as the new Town Centre in Dallas (opening in 2012) that is 27.2 kilometers and shopping in Valleyview (Coopers, Shoppers Drug Mart, Dollar Store, TD, Interior Savings and other retailers) that is 34 kilometers from Pritchard.

There are local farmers that offer fresh foods in the area as well.

Knouff or Sullivan lake is a quiet area where many recreational activites are enjoyed year round. This lake is more of a fishing lake. Water sports such as tubing and waterskiing are not commonly done on this lake due to the size. There are a number of waterfront and semi-waterfront properties on this lake.

The surface area of Shuswap lake is 309.596 square kilometers, the mean depth is 61.5 meters and maximum depth is 161.5 meters. Little Shuswap extends off of the north western arm of the Shuswap and has a surface area of 18.131 square kilometers, a mean depth of 14.3 meters and maximum depth of 59.4 meters.

Shuswap Lake is shaped like an addled H and is made up of four large arms: the Shuswap Lake main arm (north west), Salmon Arm (south west), Anstey Arm (south east) and Seymour Arm (north east). This lake is the product of glacial scouring that also rounded the surrounding Shuswap Highlands. All of the four arms converge at Cinnemousiun Narrows which is north east of Sicamous and home to the Cinnemousiun Narrows Provincial Park.
