Kamloops has experienced growth in the winery and vineyard industry, putting the City of Kamloops on the winery map as a sought after destination. The majority of vineyards in Kamloops rest on the banks of the South Thompson River although presently there is one that is located on the North Thompson. These wineries are not very far from Downtown Kamloops making them very accessible for those wine lovers. A number of communities are located within a 10 minute drive of these vineyards. We have compiled a list of the wineries in Kamloops that are producing tasty and award winning wines.
Harper’s Trail Estate Winery started planting in 2008 and fully expanded their vineyard to 24 acres by 2013. The winery focuses mainly on fresh, fruit driven wines and features its own natural hot spring. Harper’s Trail is located 20 minutes from the heart of Kamloops west of the LaFarge Bridge. Rivershore Golf Links neighbourhood is located less than a five minute drive from Harper’s Trail. Other properties along the South Thompson River are all very close to this destination. Neighbourhoods such as Campbell Creek, Dallas and Barnhartvale are also within a ten minute drive of this great winery. Harper’s Trail is as fantastic place to go for a nice taste testing session. They have a welcoming tasting room with many opportunities to buy a bottle to take home. There is also, during the warmer months outside space to take in the views of the vineyard and the South Thompson River. Harper’s Trail holds many events and gatherings.
Monte Creek Ranch Winery planted their vines back in 2009 and started selling their first bottles in 2015. 44 acres of their ranch is devoted to their grape vines, while the rest houses livestock, honey bees, and the Haskap berry which is native to Siberia. Back in 1906 Monte Creek was the last site that Billy Minor executed a train robbery. Monte Creek has marketed their products around this historical event which makes their labeling and story quite unique. Located on the South Shore of the South Thompson River, Monte Creek Ranch has a beautiful tasting room and shop that can be easily identified while traveling to the area. Monte Creek Ranch is only 25 minutes from downtown Kamloops, just past the Vernon turn off. They host a variety of events and community gatherings incorporating things like art, yoga and holiday events. Monte Creek Ranch also has a seasonal restaurant called The Terrace Restaurant. There are a lot of locations to sit and enjoy the scenery at Monte Creek including their beautiful patio with fireplace or many of the grassy knolls. The rural neighbourhood of Monte Creek and Pritchard are the closest to this winery. Areas such as Campbell Creek,Dallas and Rivershore are also a very short drive away.
Privato Vineyard & Winery is the only Kamloops winery not on the South Thompson River. This vineyard is nestled in the rural part of Westsyde, located on the west shore of the North Thompson River. The owners of Woodward’s Tree Farm decided in 2010 to use part of their 88 acres to start their own winery. Privato is located only 25 minutes from Downtown Kamloops or a quick five minutes from the Save-On-Foods in Westsyde. Privato and Woodwards Tree Farm is a great place to visit and is often bustling throughout the year. When visiting Privato you can enjoy a personalized wine tasting, take time to enjoy the scenery and have a lovely picnic on their grounds or in the wine garden. Privato is located in rural Westsyde but is very close to the residential areas of Westsyde. The McLure Ferry which runs seasonally allows for quick access off of the Yellowhead Highway #5 and from the community of McLure.
Sagewood Winery planted their vines in 2005. Family owned and run, they specialize in artisan wines hand crafted in their on-site winery. Located on the North Shore of the South Thompson River, Sagewood is a smaller scale vineyard nestled into the hillside with gorgeous scenery. Sagewood is located 20 minutes from the heart of Kamloops east of the LaFarge Bridge. Rivershore Golf Links neighbouhood is located less than a five minute drive from Sagewood and most homes in Rivershore are walking distance to this winery. Other neighbourhoods such as Campbell Creek, Dallas and Barnhartvale are also within a ten minutes drive of this lovely winery. Other properties along the South Thompson River are all very close to this destination.
We expect that new vineyards and wineries will pop up around Kamloops in the coming years. Land in Kamloops is a bit less expensive than other wine producing regions in BC, making it a desirable place to start a vineyard. Some speculative buying has occurred in the region in hopes that the land will appreciate in time as it becomes more scarce. There are still large chunks of property available for sale.

Kamloops Homes for Sale: Residential Neighbourhoods With Homes That Are Under 10 Years Old. Some buyers only focus on homes that are under 10 years old for many reasons such as less maintenance for the next five to ten years and less yard work due to smaller lots. Often homes under 10 years old have more modern features than homes that are older. These include 9 foot ceilings, larger master bedrooms with ensuites and open floor plans. Here is a list of Kamloops communities that offer homes under the age of 10 years old. There are newer homes scattered throughout more mature neighbourhoods in Kamloops as well, but this is simply a list of neighbourhoods that are predominantly newer construction.
Aberdeen Highland Development began in the early 1990’s. There are many homes in this area situated on streets such as Abbeyglen Drive, Bentall Drive, Telford Place and Drive, Galbraith Drive, Willowbrae Drive and more. The homes in this area range in size from homes just under 2,000 square feet to executive homes over 5,000 square feet. There are a lot of nice cul-de-sacs in this area and it is a great family area as it is located minutes from Pacific Way Elementary and public transportation. The newest building lots were released in late 2014 for sale. They range in size from smaller parcels to lots over 1/4 of an acre. Shopping is only a short five minute drive to lower Aberdeen.
The West Highland development is located at the intersection of Aberdeen Drive and Pacific Way. This development features a variety of dwellings including single family and multi-family homes. Phase one of the development is complete and includes 34 single-family lots, two multi-family sites and a mixed-use commercial-residential site. Homes are all very new in this area, not built any later than 2010. West Highland is located in the backyard of Pacific Way Elementary making it a great family area. It is also close to transportation and minutes from shopping in Lower Aberdeen.
Upper Batchelor Heights is the newer area of Batchelor Heights. Newer homes for the most part are found on both the north and south side of Batchelor Drive. Batchelor South consists of Red Tail Crescent and Grouse Court. The southern area is not as developed due to the lay of the land and it is bordered by parkland.
The Northern area of Batchelor has many different homes to choose from. There are a number of homes that are basic family homes with just over 2,000 square feet in size to executive homes with beautiful valley views. The newest area of Batchelor Heights is the extension of Saddleback Drive, Latigo Drive, Lariat Drive Bridle Place and Doubletree Crescent called the Plateau at Riverbend. This is where most of the building lots are located. There are also a number of areas of Batchelor Heights that feature nearly new homes such as Quails Roost Court, Cantle Drive, Place and Court, Stagecoach Drive and Place as well as Saddleback Drive. Batchelor is a 5 minute drive from local businesses and shopping needs. Westmount elementary is a short 5 minute drive and high school approximately 10 to 15 minute drive.
One area of lower Batchelor has homes that are just under the age of 10. Homes that are on Norview Drive, Norview Place and Norfolk Drive feature homes with beautiful valley views. West Briar Estates development is located west of Crestline Street in Brock. This area is mainly single family detached homes on lots that are a minimum of 5,000 square feet. The homes built in this area are predominantly basement entry style homes with two car garages and open floor plans. There are a few ranchers also built in this area. A couple homes were built in this area as early as 2004 but most homes were built from 2009 to 2013. Lots are no longer available and some homes are now coming up as re-sale homes in this area. This area is close to the Rivers Trail and many hiking trails. Both the elementary school and middle school are within walking distance of this area or are less than a five minute drive away.

Campbell Creek, Deloro & South Thompson Valley
Campbell Creek Village is located close to the Wildlife Park and 20 minutes from the Downtown core. There are very few building lots available for purchase. There are a few new and resale homes for purchase. Hiking trails surround this beautiful area of Kamloops. The homes in this area have all been built at different times but a large number of them were constructed from 2010 onwards. Many buyers have found they get more value out of homes in Campbell Creek.
Rivershore Golf Course features homes of different ages and styles. There are a number of homes throughout this community that are newer as well as older resale homes. Once thought of as a community for retirees, Rivershore has transformed to a community that’s great for all ages. There are a lot of children in the area and the golf course offers kids clubs for children interested in swinging a golf club. Rivershore is located about 30 minutes from Kamloops and sits along the South Thompson River. This community is surrounded by many farms and acreages giving it a rural feeling.

Hidden Trails at Mount Dufferin is the newest subdivision going in to the Dufferin area. It is located at the end of Pacific way and is bordered by Kenna Cartwright Park. The first home in this area was built in 2011. There are currently plans for numerous single family lots (4 phases) and two multi-family developments. This area is quickly developing and features very modern and unique homes giving the area a lot of character.
Copperhead Drive is an area of Dufferin that borders the Elementary school and Kenna Cartwright Park. There are a number of homes that were built from 2007 to 2012. The homes range in size from just over 2,000 square feet to over 4,000 square feet. This community is close to Kenna Cartwright park and many of the homes on Copperhead Drive back on to Kenna Cartwright trails.
Pacific Way at Kenna Cartwright Park has homes that were built between 2007 and 2009. They border a green space and most of these homes back on to the hillside giving homeowners some privacy. The majority of the homes in this area start at just under 2,000 square feet in size and are not larger than 3,000 square feet. They are for the most part basement entry style homes and have nice low maintenance yards.
The Juniper Benchlands area is located at the eastern portion of Juniper Heights. Many homes have breathtaking views that stretch as far as Kamloops Lake. There are a number of new homes built in this area as well as lots ready for development. This area is a single family detached development with larger executive homes typically over 3,000 square feet in size. The lots in the area are known for their size normally over a quarter acre in size or larger.
Juniper West is located to the west of Highland Drive. Juniper West sits on the western portion of Juniper Heights and boasts beautiful views of the valley below. The newest stretch of Juniper West is along Coldwater Drive, Galore Crescent and Emerald Drive that was recently extended westward towards Rose Hill. There are also building lots in the area. Many new, pre-existing homes that have been built over the past few years and are located on Stikine Street, Kechika Drive and Kechika Court.

Many areas of Pineview feature newer homes. Pineview is located west of the city centre and is predominantly single family homes with some townhouses and bare land strata developments. This is a family friendly neighbourhood with hiking trails, a park, basketball court and hockey rink. Pineview is bordered by parkland and green space. The homes sit on lots that vary in size and homes range from 2,000 square feet to executive style homes on larger lots. The newest area of Pineview is great for first time home buyers which features single family homes in a bare land strata development. Mesa Estates at Sedona Pines development is on Azure Place, located in Upper Sahali. Homes here have stunning northern views of the mountains and valley below. Homes were built as early as 2009. This is a bare land strata development and consists of single family homes that are over 2,500 square feet. The bare land strata fee covers road maintenance and street lighting. There are limited building lots left leaving only resale homes.
McKinley Estates is a new bare land strata featuring executive style homes with over 3,500 square feet of living space. There are 6 homes that will be built in the area making it very private and quiet. These homes were built from 2011 to 2015. This development is located on a cul-de-sac so there is very little traffic. The bare land strata fee covers road maintenance and street lighting.
Monarch Drive development is located between Springhill Drive and McKinley Court. This new development consists of primarily single family homes. Homes in this area were built as early as 2009 but most were built from 2010 to 2012.
Guerin Creek is a new high end development in South Kamloops just off of Summit Drive. Many of the homes have high end finishing and appliances. Current homes in Guerin Creek are two level designs with a basement, level entry ranchers or there are a few basement entry style homes. Ironwood which is is bordered by natural areas on the west side of the development and Stoneridge Adult community on the east. Many of the homes sit on 6,500 to 12,000 square foot lots and are built in an “Old World” architectural style like an English country neighbourhood.
The Pointe, consists of unobstructed view lots with contemporary modern architecture. This is an adult orientated development. Located close to the Talasa development, the Pointe is in a great location with easy access.
Sillaro is Sun River’s newest single family development which consists of large executive lots ideal for a walk up design. These homes sit near the 12th an 13th fairway of Sun Rivers Golf Course and feature nice views. These properties are near the Visao development and are in the east end of Sun Rivers.

There are a lot of trees and mature landscape in Rose Hill and it is a self contained area. Orchards Walk at Courtland Park are located in a neighbourhood just off of the #1 Highway in Valleyview that was formerly an active orchard. Braeburn is a bare land strata development with single family homes. These single family homes are multi-level heritage style homes. Braeburn is complete and ready for occupancy, some homes were built as early as 2006 and homes continue to be constructed. There are quite a few homes built from 2009 to 2013. Beachmount Estates located on Bank Road is a new single family development bordering the North Thompson River. Previously was the site of “The Mansion” where a large estate property once sat. Beachmount Estates offers 34 building lots in phase 1 that are available for purchase. Many of these lots have homes and phase 2 is nearly ready. Many homes have beautiful views of the river and easy access to the park and walking trails. This new development is located in the heart of Westsyde and is close to schools, transit and shopping.
The Estates at Riverbend is a single family home development that sits above Westsyde Road minutes south of Westmount. Grasslands Boulevard is the main road that meets Westsyde Road. Neighbourhood: Rayleigh, Kamloops, B.C. Real Estate. Rayleigh is a small community situated off of the Yellowhead Highway, 15 minutes north of the Kamloops city centre. Located between the CN Railway and the east bank of the Thompson River. Rayleigh is located directly across the river from Westsyde.
Properties & Real Estate
This area is mainly comprised of single family residential homes, acreage and small farms.
Rayleigh is a very private, quiet, family oriented neighbourhood. There are beautiful riverfront properties with access to the beach of the Thompson river. There is boat access up the North Thompson River during the spring and summer time.
Many of the lot sizes in Rayleigh are quite spacious often over 1/3 of an acre. Most are flat, usable and have numerous fruit trees. Since there are large lots in Rayleigh, it is common to find properties that have pools, large workshops and garages. Homes in Rayleigh are a mix of newer and old but are predominantly built before 1995. Rayleigh is on a private water system (Rayleigh Water Works) and all homes have septic systems as well (community or private).
Rayleigh has a gas station, a convenience store and pub/restaurant all other shopping and services are located within a 10 to 15 minute drive of this neighbourhood. The Heffley store is approximately five to 10 minutes north of Rayleigh.

Dirt biking, hiking, biking, ATV riding, snowmobiling and fishing are all a short drive away. Rayleigh is rural living but close to the city. This safe peaceful neighbourhood is very appealing to many families and retirees. Since Rayleigh is north of the City of Kamloops it is that much closer to Sun Peaks Ski Resort. Sun Peaks is approximately 35 minutes drive from Rayleigh.

There are numerous types of homes to choose from in Brocklehurst. There are building lots (limited and often pan handle lots), quite a few mobile home parks, apartment buildings, townhouse developments, half and full duplex units, bareland strata developments, senior oriented living, single family homes, acreage and farms. Brock is known to have large, flat lots (often 1/4 acre or more in size). Formally an orchard region, Brock homeowners often have numerous fruit trees in their yards such as cherry, apple, pear and plum trees. Fruit grows very well in the Kamloops’s summer climate.
Brocklehurst has numerous waterfront homes that are typically located on a 1/3 acre lot or larger. Brock is located in the valley bottom of the Thompson Valley and tends to get less snow in the winter months.

Shopping & Services
Brock has numerous grocery stores, retailers, professional offices and amenities close by. The Brock Shopping Centre, a mall located on Tranquille Road and Desmond Street has a Save-On Foods grocery store, Shoppers Drug Mart, Tim Hortons, Kamloops Hot Yoga, a couple restaurants, a fitness centre and numerous other small retailers. Brock is also close to Northills mall which houses Independent Grocer, Shoppers Drug Mart, BC Liquor Store, CIBC, TD and other smaller retailers. Safeway, Canadian Tire and other commercial retailers are located along 8th and Tranquille corridor which are a short drive from Brock. All of North Kamloops shopping is all within five to ten minutes of most Brocklehurst homes.
Brock has many activities for outdoors enthusiasts. There are a lot of hiking trails, a river’s trail and beach walks. A popular place for many dog owners is the long stretch on the beach of the Thompson River beside the airport. Often bald eagles and other wildlife can be spotted in this area.
The Kamloops Golf and Country Club is located on Tranquille road near the airport and approximately 10 kilometers from the downtown core. This 18 hole golf course is a traditional style golf course with generous tree-lined well-conditioned fairways.
There is a large dog park that many pet owners enjoy on Ord road were it intersects Tranquille Road.
McArthur Island Park is on the border of North Kamloops and Brocklehurst. Many Brock neighbourhoods have direct access to the park by way of the walking and biking paths. Many sports are enjoyed at this park, golf, soccer, football, baseball, and mountain biking can be viewed as you stroll around the perimeter of the park on the paved trail. There are 3.1 kilometers of paved walking trails in the park. There also is a skate park, mini golf, lawn bowling, youth centre and events centre on site.
For the explorer in you, Padova, formally a sanatorium and mental institution is a 181 acre parcel of land with old buildings standing from it’s days of operation. Currently this property is the home to Tranquille Fresh Farms, a corn maze, tunnel tours and many other community events. Brocklehurst is home to the Kamloops Airport. The airport is located at the intersection of Tranquille Road and Airport Road near the Thompson River. Numerous flights from Vancouver, Calgary and other popular destinations arrive and depart daily. The two main carriers are Air Canada and Westjet.
The airport is a low volume airport. Often new home buyers ask about the noise levels due to the airport, it is pretty unnoticeable and nothing like larger airports in the province.

Neighbourhood: Valleyview, Rose Hill, Kamloops, B.C. Real Estate. Valleyview is located 5 minutes east of downtown Kamloops. The neighbourhood of Valleyview stretches north and south of Valleyview Drive, east to Tanger Drive and north to meet the Thompson River.

Valleyview is a fairly large residential area. High Country Boulevard, High Ricardo Way, High Schylea Place and High Canada Place are located in this community. Shopping & Services
There is a Save-On-Foods, Shoppers Drug Mart, restaurants, fast food restaurants and many smaller retailers. Valleyview is also the home to numerous automotive dealerships, motorsport dealers (dirt bike, ATV, snowmobile) and many other industries located in the industrial area just off of the #1 highway on Kelly Douglas Road. Dallas Town Centre is also a short drive away. There is a small grocery store, Subway restaurant, Petrocan and a few other smaller retailers.
Marrion Schillling Elementary (2200 Park Drive) and Valleyview Secondary (1950 Valleyview Drive) are all located in Valleyview. These two schools are the main schools in the area. Juniper Ridge secondary school aged children (grade 8 to 12) also attend Valleyview Highschool.
Valleyview is very central and has a few recreational options. The Valleyview arena is located on Highland Drive at the foot of Juniper Ridge.
The Kamloops Bike Ranch is located in Juniper Ridge and ends in Valleyview.There are two phases of the Bike Park, Phase I is a “fast-flowing, A-line style downhill trail boasting a multitude of tables and “berms” rated for the expert rider; a jump park for expert and intermediate riders; and a BMX track to Canadian Cycling Association standards” and Phase II “will create more diverse bike park features including a trials area, cross-country trails, biker cross track, and a kid’s park,” according to the city of Kamloops website.
Valleview has a public boat launch which is commonly the site where people begin their river float. Many people frequent this area in the warm months, hop in their flotation device and meander down the river ending in Riverside or Pioneer park. It is also a great place to start your trek to the Shuswap Lakes for some water sports.
Rose Hill Road is the site of the Kamloops Disc Golf course. There are also many hiking trails in the area.

Neighbourhood: South Kamloops Downtown, B.C. Real Estate. South Kamloops covers the entire downtown core and smaller neighbourhoods east and west of the downtown core.
The name Kamloops refers to the flowing together of the north and south Thompson rivers named by the Secwepemc Indian Band or Shuswap people. The discovery of gold brought many adventurers into the region in the late 1850’s. Once B.C. became a part of Canada in 1871, Kamloops received their first trans continential railroad in 1886. The first South Thompson bridge was built in 1887, to be followed by one to North Kamloops in 1901.
Kamloops was incorporated in 1893 with a population of less than 1,000 people. Numerous industries such as Royalite Refinery opened in 1955, Kamloops Pulp and Paper Mill (now Domtar) was established in 1964 and in 1977 Afton Mines and Smelter commenced operations.
Kamloops is still a central hub, as it sits approximately halfway between Calgary, Vancouver, and the northern Cariboo-Chilcotin regions. Properies & Real Estate
The downtown area of Kamloops is known to have a number of heritage homes of all sizes. The furthest westerly area of South Kamloops and the south eastern area have mature homes but not heritage homes.
A number of residential units exist within the downtown core. There are many apartment units (newer and older) that are very close to downtown conveniences. Single family homes are scattered throughout the downtown core and are often converted into commercial space. Many heritage style homes along Seymour Street east of 6th are used for commercial space. A number of professional offices and health related services are located here. South of Seymour there are some nice residential streets such as St Paul Street, Nicola Street and Battle Street. Battle does have a couple of commercial practices but for the most part is residential.
Buyers will find the majority of single family homes east of 6th Avenue. The homes in this part of South Kamloops are mostly smaller residential homes often under or just over 2,000 square feet.South east of the Kamloops downtown area is a nice neighbourhood that is home to a number of families because of the close proximity to elementary and secondary schools. This area of South Kamloops sits south of Columbia street, north of the trans Canada Highway #1, west of 13th Avenue and east of 6th Avenue. Dominion Street, Pine Street, Pleasant Street, Munro Street, Fraser Street and Douglas Street are all popular residential streets in the area. Most homes in this area are older and typically built between 1950 to 1980’s with some random newer construction homes within the neighbourhood. Many owners have chosen to upgrade and renovate their homes in this area with many significant renovations being completed. The character of many of the homes has been preserved which adds to the character of this neighbourhood.
There are a number of playgrounds and parks in this area of South Kamloops. Access to the Peterson Creek hiking trails also is close by. The Sagebrush Theatre is also located in this neighbourhood.
South Kamloops west also known as the West End has a variety of real estate. Seymour Street West, Battle Street West, St. Paul Street West, Nicola Street West, Clark Street, Connaught Street, Nicola Wagon Road and Lee Street have a number of heritage homes that are often over 2,000 square feet in size. This region is fairly sloped and the yard sizes vary with each property because of the changing incline.
At the top of Battle Street West where it meets Strathcona Terrace the neighbourhood is very different from the one just east. The homes in this area are mature (1950’s to 1980’s) but not heritage homes. There are also a few newer homes scattered throughout this area. Grandview Terrace, Dufferin Terrace, Hemlock Street, Lombard Street, Arbutus Street, Powers Road, Sequoia Place, Centre Avenue, Boundary Road, Chaparral Place and Strathcona terrace all make up this neighbourhood. Many of these homes have beautiful views of the Thompson valley.
Further west along Lombard street leads to another small neighbourhood where there are a few single family homes, a number of town house units and half duplex units. Hudson Bay Trail has a number of higher end town houses that overlook the Thompson river. Mission Hill is a condo building located in this area and consists of one and two bedroom units with beautiful river views. Hudsons Bay Pointe is the newest townhouse complex located on Hudsons Bay Trail and Fernie Drive. There are many options for buyers in this area. Schools are not walking distance for children in this area.
Further west, Guerin Creek Estates is a newer high end development in South Kamloops just off of Summit Drive. Many of the homes have high end finishing and appliances. The homes in this community are executive sized homes with larger square footages and often three car garages. Current homes in Guerin Creek are two level designs with a basement, rancher style with a basement or basement entry homes. The lot sizes do vary but are executive sized lots. Many of these homes have amazing views of the Thompson River Valley looking north.
The newest area of development in the South Kamloops area is Hudson’s Ridge which is located west of Summit Drive, across from Guerin Creek Estates.

One other area that is west of the downtown core is the Dalgleish area. Sitting above Grandview Terrace, Dalgleish Drive has a variety of multi-family residences. Apartment buildings and townhouses often are home to students attending Thompson Rivers University. Many of the homes off of Dalgleish have great views of the Thompson Valley. There is often a lot of variety of units to choose from in this area. Often investors buy properties in this area as it does tend to rent for the most due to the close proximity to TRU. Not every development in this area allows rentals so it is important if you are an investor to ensure there are not any rental restrictions.
Condominium units can be found on a number of streets in the Downtown core. Victoria Landing is the highest building in the Downtown area. This complex is located on Victoria at 6th Avenue. Lorne Street has a number of condo buildings. Buildings on Lorne have covered parking in secure garages. Park Place is a complex on Lorne Street with numerous amenities such as indoor pool, sauna, gym, community room and boat moorage. All of the units located on Lorne Street are steps to the Rivers Trail and a short walk to Riverside Park.
There are a few townhouse developments as well in the South Kamloops area. Townhouses can be found on Nicola Street at 6th Avenue, Nicola at 1st Avenue, on 1st Avenue, in Park Place on Lorne Street at 9th, St Paul Street at 1st Avenue, Hudsons Bay Trail and in the Dalgleish area near the university. Shopping & Services
South Kamloops is home to numerous amenities. Save-On Foods, London Drugs, Visions Electronics, Coast Capital Savings, CIBC, Scotia Bank, TD Canada Trust, HSBC, numerous insurance agencies and professional offices are all close by. Lansdowne Village houses a number of the larger retailers in South Kamloops.
There are also a variety of small and medium retailers, numerous restaurants, and fast food establishments. Victoria Street is the main street where many clothing boutiques, bridal stores and specialty stores are found. South Kamloops is home to the Royal Inland Hospital, the only hospital servicing the Kamloops (and Thompson) region.
Downtown Kamloops covers the region between Columbia Street down to the Thompson River and from just west of 1st Avenue to 7th Avenue. The majority of professional offices and downtown businesses are found on Lansdowne Street, Victoria Street, Seymour Street and St. Paul Street. Battle Street, Nicola Street and Columbia Street do have some businesses but these streets are not as heavily populated by businesses as the previously mentioned streets.
The Kamloops Farmers Market is located in the Downtown core. The Farmers Market takes place between April and October. There is a farmers market on both Wednesdays (400 Block of Victoria Street) and Saturdays (200 Block of St Paul Street).
Shopping areas in Sahali, Southgate and Aberdeen are within a five to ten minute drive of South Kamloops. Many of the big box stores are located in these areas.
Thompson Rivers University is located in the Southgate/Sahali area. The campus is positioned at the intersection of Summit Drive and McGill Road. TRU is a fully accredited University and offers a variety of programs and courses to students in many different areas of study. South Kamloops boarders the Southgate area and TRU it is often a very popular area for University students to live due to the close proximity to the University.
Riverside Park and Interior Savings Centre are both located on Lorne Street in South Kamloops. Riverside park is a large park on the river with a water park, a sandy beach area, large open green space for summer activities, washroom facilities and picnic areas. Riverside park also has a stage where numerous performances and events occur during the warmer months.
Sandman Centre is home to the Kamloops Blazers Junior Hockey team. Many performances and concerts also occur at this large facility.
South Kamloops Secondary is also the home to the Sagebrush Theatre, a 706 seat proscenium theatre is located on 9th Avenue in South Kamloops (south of Columbia Street).
The Kamloops YMCA/YWCA is located on 4th Avenue and Battle Street in the Downtown core. The facility offers an indoor pool, sauna, hot tub, exercise facilities and many fitness classes.
Peterson Creek Park runs through most of Sahali and part of South Kamloops. This is a 423 hectare park that is a natural creek corridor. There are over 30 kilometers of trails in the park and many sites to enjoy including panoramic valley views and Bridal Veil Falls. There are numerous access points and the park is equipped with picnic tables and grassy areas to enjoy.
Tournament Capital Centre is located in the Sahali/Southgate area which is only a five to 10 minute drive from any South Kamloops neighbourhood. TCC has many different facilities all in one building such as gymnastics, swimming, indoor track, fitness facility, courts and much more. There are also a number of sports fields that surround the facility.

South Kamloops is serviced by BC Transit buses on a frequent and regular schedule. Click here to view the BC Transit website. The main bus loop is located on Lansdowne Street at 7th Avenue.
Access to Trans Canada Highway #1 is very easy from any area of South Kamloops with usually approximately a 5 minute drive to the onramp.
The Kamloops Airport is located north west 15 to 20 minutes from South Kamloops.

Knutsford is located 15 minutes south of the city of Kamloops. The Old Merritt Highway 5A runs through the Knutsford area. Some areas of Knutsford are within a five minute drive of Aberdeen Mall. Knutsford mainly consists of small to large acreages, farms and ranches. There are a couple of small mobile home parks in the area as well. Knutsford is known for it’s wide open rolling hills with views for miles. Knutsford is located at a higher elevation than the city of Kamloops and tends to get a little more snow in the winter but in the summer it is not quite as hot.
The Knutsford Hall is a popular place for locals to meet for events and gatherings and has a capacity of up to 110 people. The Hall is located on Highway 5A just outside of Aberdeen.
Properties & Real Estate
The two mobile home parks in the area are Knutsford Knoll Mobile Home Park (2867 Highway 5A) and Knutsford Tent and Trailer Park (2721 Highway 5A). These parks are easily accessible from the highway.
The majority of Knutsford is dominated by ranches and farms. Many of the properties are located off of Long Lake Road, Highway 5A, Rose Hill Road, Goose Lake Road, Weir Road, Jackson Road, Separation Road and Edith Lake Road. The majority of the properties in Knutsford are on septic system. For water, homes are either a drilled well or have water delivered. There are a few select properties that border Aberdeen that do have city water services.

Knutsford does not have it’s own shopping district. You will find ranches and farms that sell eggs and other products but there are not any large commercial developments.
Most areas of Knutsford are within five to 15 minutes of the Aberdeen area of Kamloops. Aberdeen has a number of stores and shops such as the Aberdeen Mall, Costco, many restaurants, and more. Knutsford is a great location for people who want to live in a country setting but also want to be close to city amenities.
Highway 5A leads directly to Highway #1 which is the main route through Kamloops making other shopping districts such as Downtown Kamloops and Valleyview very accessible.
Knutsford is serviced by school bus and students have the choice of a few schools. It will take about 15 to 30 minutes by school bus to most schools in the area. Click here for further school information.
There are many outdoors activities to enjoy in Knutsford such as horseback riding, motor sports, hiking, boating (Stump Lake is close as well as other small fishing lakes), fishing and more. Stump Lake is the only lake in the area that allows gas powered boats, other lakes such as Edith Lake, Separation Lake, McLeod Lake and Flat Lake are only fishing Lakes.
Knutsford is also very close to the city of Kamloops and can access many city amenities like the Tournament Capital Centre and other popular activities in Kamloops.
